Welcome to Lumiare: A Kingdom Built on Magic
The kingdom of Lumiare wasn’t built on hoarded power. It was built on the idea that magic should move — like a river, like a bloodstream — through every level of society.
Nobles governed the great ley lines. Merchants identified and distributed magical artifacts. Artisans wove enchantments into everything they crafted. Farmers tended the earth-magic that kept crops and soil alive. Each part depended on the others. None of it was meant to work alone.
That’s not how Lumiare works anymore.
Somewhere along the way, pride crept in. Class lines hardened. Power that was meant to flow got hoarded instead, and the kingdom’s ancient magic — the crystal wards, the ley lines, the earth-magic in the fields — has been failing ever since. Crops wither. Protective spells fray like old fabric. And no one in power seems to understand why, even as the people who might know the answer keep quietly disappearing.
If you want to see where all of this began — literally, the founding of Lumiare’s magic, and the discovery behind it — I wrote a short story about it: The First Light of Lumiare, a romantic fantasy short story (really short!) set generations before Ella and Adrian’s story even begins, part of The Enchanted Chronicles. It stands entirely on its own, but if you’ve fallen in love with this world, it’s a lovely place to go deeper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVKTF3NC
An introduction to the magical worldbuilding comes next with the first chapters coming soon.
